Your website is more than just a website. It’s your digital storefront—it’s a powerful digital representation of your goods and services to potential customers. Too often, however, business owners fail to realize this and don’t dedicate the time required to have a successful website that drives leads and generates revenue.
Poor Design
If your website looks like something straight out of a time 1996 time capsule, it’s probably time for a refresh. I’ll be a little more specific to suggest that if your current website has any of the following attributes, you could be losing the trust, interaction, and conversion of website visitors into leads.
- Type is too small, not well spaced, difficult to read
- Poor color design, oversaturated/clashing colors
- Overuse of cheesy, generic stock graphics and images
- Obstructive website architecture, lack of direction
Not Optimized for Mobile
If your website is not mobile-friendly, you’re missing out on a huge audience. Over the last 2 years, Google has seen a 200% growth in searches being performed on mobile devices. Right now, mobile devices account for about 28% of all internet usage (Pew Research Center)—that’s about 1.2 billion people!
Not Measuring Data
If you’re not measuring your website’s analytics, you simply don’t know how your visitors are interacting with your website! Knowing how your website is performing now is key to increasing its performance in the future. For example, if your goal is to drive more traffic to your landing pages, wouldn’t you want to know how your visitors are reaching those pages, how long they’re spending there, and whether or not their dropping off?
The bottom line is, these days, a website is more than just another thing that’s nice to have. It’s another storefront—and with as many people using the internet now to make real-world purchasing decisions, you can’t afford not to update your website!
